Carl Lamb

BOONVILLE, N.Y.  —  Carl Lamb, 91, 3143 Route 12D, died Friday afternoon at Lewis County General Hospital Friday after being stricken at the home of his daughter. 

Born March 6, 1917, in Buffalo, to Thomas and Lorinda Carrigan Lamb, he was educated in Buffalo and Ithaca schools. He served in the Navy  during World War II as a gunner's mate on the light cruiser USS Pasadena. 

After the war, he worked at Ithaca gun and the Hotel Syracuse. While working at Hotel Syracuse, he met his companion of 51 years, Frances Eileen Larribee. He later worked for General Electric as a millwright for 25 years, retiring in 1979. His companion, Frances, passed away Dec/ 27, 1988. 

He was a past member of the American Legion and the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars in Central Square. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of Toad Harbor Hunting Club in West Monroe. 

He enjoyed General Electric’s clambakes, and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. 

After the death of his companion Frances, he met Dawn Tryniski, with whom he resided for 15 years. Together they enjoyed western and ballroom dancing, gardening, antiquing and traveling. She passed away in 2004. Carl moved to Boonville and lived with his daughter in 2004. 

Surviving are a daughter, Yvonne Stanford, with whom he resided in Boonville; a stepson, Hilton Tanney, Homer; five granddaughters, Jodi Lamb, Appolo Beach, Fla.; Julie Glazier, Homer, Cheryl Tanney, North Carolina, Sheri Warner, Lowville, and Rachel Adams, Middlesex, N.C.; two grandsons, John and Carl Ackley, Utica; several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

He was predeceased by a son, Carl Joseph, in 1978; seven sisters and a brother; Nora Arden, Florence Gee, Carrie Race Whiting, Ruth Emperor, Betty Lower; Dorothy and Elsie, who died as infants and John Lamb.  

There will be no funeral or calling hours. A private graveside service will be held at Hillside Cemetery, Central Square.
