— Emmanuel J. “Mannie” Dufault, 87, died
Tuesday morning, June 24, at his home on Hummingbird Lane, while under the care of his family and Lewis County Hospice.
Born Sept. 30, 1920, in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, a son of the late Alexandar and Anne Thorpe
Dufault, he graduated from Assumption University in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, and continued his education with post-graduate work at the University of Toronto.
He married Denise LaPorte on May 11, 1946, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. During the
1960s, the couple made their home in Rochester and later moved to
Lowville.
Mr. Dufault was employed in the food industry as a chemist by Canada Packers in Toronto, Canada; for Phaudler in Rochester, and retired from Sybron in Rochester in 1983. He holds four patents in the food industry.
He was a loving and loyal husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Whether for business or pleasure, his love of travel took him the world over and also provided his children with that same love of travel.
Mr. Dufault was a communicant and Eucharistic minister of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Glenfield and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was also a member of the National Rendering Association and Institute of Food Technologies. Mannie took great interest in reading, playing chess, playing golf.
Surviving are his wife, Denise, Lowville; two sons and their
wives, Paul and Dorothy, Fairport, and Marc and Terri, Kissimmee,
F;a.; three daughters and their husbands, Carol and Peter van der Voort,
Ottawa, Canada, Michele and John McIsaac, Toronto, Canada, and Lynn and Jonathan
Thisse, Glenfield; a brother, Kenneth, Windsor, Canada; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be said 10 a.m. Monday, June 30, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Glenfield with Rev. Timothy J. Soucy, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Lowville Rural Cemetery.
Family and friends may call 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 29, at the Sundquist Funeral Home, 7676 State Street,
Lowville.
