Richard W. Neely

CASTORLAND, N.Y.  —  Richard W. Neely, 29, of 8790 Van Amber Road, died Tuesday, July 1, in a fatal motor vehicle accident on the East Road in the town of Denmark. 

Born Oct. 15, 1978 in Honolulu Hawaii to Richard Ray and Carol Elizabeth McCallops, he graduated from Carthage High School. 

He was employed by Fort Drum Public Works during the winter; and he also worked for Champion Materials in the summer.

Mr. Neely married Theresa Windover on June 16, 2007, at Turning Point Park in Carthage. 

Surviving are his wife, Theresa; his father Richard and his stepmother, Jane Neely, Carthage; his mother, Carol Elizabeth, and her husband, Bert Gutierrez; Champion; a sister, Brandy, and her husband, Thomas Loder, Champion; his grandfather, William McCallops; a sister-in-law, Nicky Peters, Lowville; several aunts and uncles; a niece and nephews.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and four wheeling. He was a member of the Black River Four Wheeler Club. 

He was a member of the Lewis County Search and Rescue; he served on the board for a few years and was also a member of the Champion Fire Department.

Calling hours will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 4, and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 5, at Bossuot-Lundy Funeral Home Inc., 500 State St., Carthage. A funeral service will be held in the Chapel of the funeral home at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 5, with Rev. Linda J. Harris officiating, pastor of the United Methodist Church, Carthage. Burial will follow in the Sunnyside Cemetery, Naumburg.
