— Richard
A. "Dick" Greene, 65, of 14182 State St., died Thursday, July 3,
at his home.
Born May 16, 1943, at Lowville Hospital in Lowville, son of William and Arletha Bintz
Greene, he resided in Constableville until 1955 when he moved to Harrisville. He graduated in 1962 from Harrisville Central School. He went into the Air Force on
Aug. 2, 1961, and was stationed at 340 2nd Keesler AFB in Biloxi, Mississippi. He then moved on to Otis AFB in Massachusetts as a member of the 55 1st EMS. He was honorably discharged on July 30, 1965.
He held various jobs prior to spending 19 years on Fort Drum where he worked for
the U.S. Army Garrison Public Works as an EICM, retiring in June
2005.
He was an active member of the Bassett-Baxter American Legion Post #789, Carthage,
serving as a Trustee. He was legionnaire of the year for
2007 to 2008.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and had a passion for Family Genealogy and spending time on the St. Lawrence River with his cousin,
Charleen.
Surviving are two sons and their wives, Michael and Donna Greene,
East Stroudsburg, Pa, and Jeffrey and Melida Greene, Hackettstown,
N.J.; a daughter and her husband, Lisa and Michael Melo, Washington,
N.J.; three grandchildren, Christopher, Erika, and Jacob; a
sister, Linda Greene Hale, and her husband ,Herbert, of
Edwards; a very close cousin, Charleen Okuszki and her husband Henry of
Utica; along with several nephews, nieces and cousins.
Calling hours will be held 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, July
6, at the Bossuot-Lundy Funeral Home, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage. The American Legion will be
conducting a service at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. A funeral service will be held
11 a.m. Monday, July 7, in the Chapel of the funeral home with
Rev. Walter Giles officiating. Burial will follow in the Constableville Cemetery with full- military honors. A reception will follow at the American Legion, Post # 789 in Carthage.
