—
Sharon LaVancha Briggs, 70, formerly of Carthage, died Thursday,
July 5, at Nash Memorial Hospital in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, with her family by her side.
She was born Dec. 10, 1941, in Carthage, a daughter of Lawrence
and Edith A. Gray LaVancha.
She was employed as an Apple Inspector for Fowler’s in Sodus.
She loved crocheting, puzzles and most of all her grandbabies. She was an active member in the Sodus Fire Department.
Surviving are her Loving Companion of 25 years, Ron Marsteiner, two
children, Joe and his wife Rachel Eggleston, and Clifton G. Briggs
Jr.; her Mother, Edith A. LaVancha; several siblings; Ron LaVancha, Larry LaVancha, Denny LaVancha, Nancy Furkin, Edie Dickinson, Bonnie Madonna, Donna Barber, Jane Stone and Flora
Wilson; and three grandchildren, Joana, Macie and Madee Eggleston.
She was predeceased by two former husbands, Clifton G. Briggs, Jr. and Joseph F. Eggleston, three children; Sandra Briggs Lucien, Randy Briggs, and Wayne Briggs as well as her father, Lawrence
LaVancha.
Calling hours will be held 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, July 12, at Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service,
Inc., 500 State St., Carthage.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. in the chapel of the
funeral home with Rev. David Allison, pastor of the First Church of the Nazarene in
Carthage, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Carthage.
