— Joyce A. Markham, 95, formerly of Lyons Falls,
died Monday, July 14, at United Helpers Nursing Home in
Ogdensburg. Mrs. Markham had resided in Ogdensburg for the past few years with her daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Edward Sieber, formerly of Lyons
Falls.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, July 17, at the Sundquist Funeral Home, 7676 State Street, Lowville,
with Rev. Naomi Kelly, pastor of the Forest Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Turin Cemetery.
Family and friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 16,
at the funeral home.

Born April 18, 1913, in the town of Turin, a daughter of Clifford and Edith Burdick Allen,
she was graduated from Lyons Falls High School in June of 1933.
She married Frederick C. Markham on June 7, 1935, at Forest Presbyterian Church in Lyons
Falls. He died in 1987.
During WWII, Mrs. Markham was a Civil Defense Air Raid Warden and aircraft spotter.
She retired as a bank teller from the Lyons Falls National Bank.
As a member of the Forest Presbyterian Church, Mrs. Markham taught Sunday school and was a member of the Presbyterian Woman’s Organization. She was also was very active in the Lyons Falls Theater Guild and enjoyed snowmobiling.
In addition to her daughter and son-in-law of Ogdensburg, Mrs. Markham is survived by
a brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Jane Allen of
Brantingham; two grandchildren and their spouses, Eric and Kim Sieber, and Melissa and Kevin Powers; and several nieces and nephews.
A brother and sister-in-law, James and Rita Allen, and a sister and brother-in-law, Madonna and Dorrance
Liendecker, died before her.
