Rosemary A. Massey

ALEXANDRIA BAY, N.Y.  —  Rosemary A. Massey, 86, of Alexandria Bay, died Friday evening, July 13, at Riverledge United Helpers Nursing Home, Ogdensburg, where she had resided for the past year.

Born Oct. 31, 1925, in Watertown, the daughter of Floyd and Eleanor Potter, she graduated from Cape Vincent High School. 

She worked as a cook for the Argonne Inn, Cavalario’s Steak House, and the Riveredge Resort, all in Alexandria Bay. She was a member of the Clayton American Legion Auxiliary, the Alexandria Bay Homemakers, and served as secretary and treasurer for Gordon Court Apartments.

Rosemary married Raymond Massey in 1946. Mr. Massey died July 11, 1982.

She is survived by five sons, Vincent and wife Donna, Alexandria Bay, Gerald, Tampa, Fla., John, Alexandria Bay, Marvin and wife Kim, Watertown, Michael and wife, Cindy, Durham, N.C., and Raymond and wife Kim, Sackets Harbor; and three daughters, Mrs. Donald (Marjorie) Prosser, Clayton, Mrs. Stephen “Bubba” (Marie) Derrigo, Alexandria Bay, and Mrs. Neal (Darlene) Walroth, Glen Park; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a great, great-grandson. 

Besides her husband, she was also predeceased by two sons, Chester and Richard, and a half-sister, Jen Whitney.

Family services at Barnes Settlement Cemetery, Alexandria Bay, will be private.
