— Richard
A. Weller, 87, of Railroad Street, died Tuesday morning,
July 15, at his home, while under the care of his family and
Lewis County Hospice.
The funeral will be 1
p.m. Friday, July 18, at Lowville United Methodist Church
with Rev. Marcia Wickert, pastor, officiating. Burial will
follow in the Martinsburg Cemetery. Calling hours will be 2
to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 17, at Iseneker Funeral
Home, Inc., 5702 Waters Road, Lowville.

Born March 10, 1921, in
the town of Lowville, a son of Hawley E. and Florence C.
Atwell Weller, he attended rural school on the Number Three
Road and Graduated from Lowville Academy in 1939. He worked
on the family farm.
He married Helen J. Foote on June 6, 1947, at Lowville
Methodist Church. She died May 28, 2005.
Together, the couple purchased the family farm and operated
it until 1977, upon selling to their son and
daughter-in-law, Richard and Kay. He then worked as a
caretaker for Valley View Courts, Lowville and was a
transportation supervisor for the ARC, retiring in the early
1980s.
Mr. Weller
was a member of Lowville United Methodist Church and was
active with many church functions. He was also a member of
the following organizations: Lowville Grange P of H #71,
Lowville Producers Dairy Co-Op, Lowville Farmer’s Co-Op,
Lewis County Holsteins Freisian Association, and Eastern AI
Co-Operative.
He enjoyed making wooden
crafts and was an avid birdwatcher.
Surviving are two sons and their wives, Richard and Kay
Weller, Lowville, Philip and Sharon Weller, Springfield, Minn.;
a daughter and her husband, Marcia and Richard Ten Eyck,
Brasher Falls; a brother-in-law, Gerald Lehman, New Bremen,
10 grandchildren, two great-grandsons; nieces, nephews and
cousins
A sister, Lois Lehman, died before him.
