Wesley H. Covey, 68, of 22367 Boyd Road, died, Monday, July 23,
at home under the care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County.
Born Aug. 26, 1943, in Carthage, the son of Carlton F. and Edna L. Clemons Covey, he attended local schools.
Mr. Covery served on active duty in the Army from 1963 to
1966 before transferring to the Army Reserves until 1969 when he was honorably discharged.
He married Lynda Marie Montgomery on July 27, 1968, at the Methodist Church in Carthage. Mrs. Covey died at home on July 7, 2004.
Wesley was employed by the former Gormley’s Hardware and most recently by the wastewater treatment plant in Carthage.
He was a member of the American Legion in Carthage.
He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and riding his snowmobile and motorcycle.
Surviving are his children and their spouses, Jeffery A. and
Trish Covey, Timothy A. and Julie L. Covey and Julie A.
Covey, all of Carthage; his siblings; Carol Allen and her husband, Phil, Delaware, Lyle Covey and his wife,
Karen, Carthage, Sharon Thompson, Scotland, Connecticut and Wayne Covey,
Pulaski; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 28, in the Chapel of the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation
Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage, with Rev. Linda J. Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview
Cemetery, Carthage. Visitation will be held 5 to 8 p.m.
