Hugh A. Wilkinson, 70, of Hitchcock Bay Road, died Wednesday morning,
July 24, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse, where he had been a patient for a short time.
Born Feb. 12, 1942, in Deer River, the son of James & Dorothy Young
Wilkinson, he graduated in 1959 from Carthage Central High School
and worked for the New York State before graduating from Canton ATI in 1962.
He married Ellen Cummings on May 4, 1963 in Deer River.
He was employed by Carthage Machine, Crown Zellerbach, Gamble Distributors and he retired from Kraft Foods in Lowville in 1998.
Hugh enjoyed living at the family camp on Lake Bonaparte in the summer and spending winters in Zephyrhills, Florida.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen; a daughter, Jamey Wilkinson,
Hammond; three grandchildren, Devyn Workman, Lauren Workman, both of Hammond and Bailey Wilkinson, Black
River; a niece, two nephews and two great nephews.
A son, Alan Wilkinson, died in 2000.
A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Friday, July 27, in the
chapel of the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage. Burial will follow in Swinburne Cemetery, Deer River. Visitation will be held
1 to 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
