Elsie M. Kiah

CLAYTON, N.Y.  —  Elsie M. Kiah, 92, of Lovers Lane,  passed away Saturday evening, Sept. 12, at River Hospital, Alexandria Bay, where she had been a patient since Aug. 14.

Calling hours will be held 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Clayton. A prayer service will then be held at 12:15 p.m. at the funeral home followed by the 1 p.m. funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church with Rev. Bryan Stitt officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.

She was born in Clayton on Oct. 10, 1916, the daughter of Alexis and Mary Berta Bechaz. 

She married Robert A. Kiah on June 25, 1973, at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Church, Henderson Harbor with Rev. William G. Munch officiating.

Mrs. Kiah had been an inspector for 10 years at General Electric, Providence, R.I. She had lived in Watertown, moving to Clayton in 1978. 

She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church. 

Elsie loved traveling with her husband, Bob, and for many years enjoyed their cottage on the St. Lawrence River.

Besides her husband, Robert, she is survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was predeceased by her 3 brothers, George Bechaz, May 9, 1995, Joseph S. Bechaz, Nov. 17, 1985, and John B. Bechaz, 1967, and her sister, Frances E. Ryan, Aug. 1, 2001.
