Ola M. Wilson

WATERTOWN, N.Y.  —  Ola M. Wilson, 95, formerly of County Route 67, and the Whispering Pines Adult Home, died Monday evening at the Samaritan Keep Home where she had resided for a month.

Mrs. Wilson was a registered nurse at the House of the Good Samaritan Hospital, now Samaritan Medical Center from 1958 until retiring in 1979 from the cardiac care unit.

Born Jan. 28, 1914, in Jefferson County, Alabama, a daughter of Arthur David and Alice Hayes Haynes, she was a 1938 graduate of the University of Tennessee at Memphis.  

She worked for several years as a nurse anesthetist with private physicians.

She married Clarence Wilson on Dec. 24, 1941, at Fort Worth, Texas.  He died March 28, 1999.

Mrs. Wilson was a long standing member of the Burrville Congregational UCC, a charter member of the Town of Watertown Fire Department Women’s Auxilary, and a member of the Samaritan Loyals.  She enjoyed gardening, needle work and oil painting.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David and Peggy; a daughter and son-in-law, Diana and James Fralick, both of Watertown; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a brother, William Haynes, Texas; a sister Lorene Boyd, Michigan; a half brother and his wife, Ronald and Peggy Haynes, Florida; a sister-in-law, Letty Haynes, Inlet; many nieces and nephews.  

She was predeceased by four brothers, Ulys, Howard, Arthur David, and Willard.  Four sisters, Florence Melton, Blanche Leonard, Betty Hamill, and Florene Cullen.

The memorial service will be 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home. A calling hour will begin at 5 p.m. prior to the service.
