WATERTOWN, N.Y. —
Mary Carr, 92, died on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at North
Rehabilitation facility, St. Petersburg, Fla., where she had
been a resident for over eight years.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at
First Presbyterian Church, Watertown, with internment
following at Brookside Cemetery, Watertown Center.
Born Aug. 21, 1917, in Watertown, the daughter of Helen and
Archie Knell, she was a 1937 graduate of Watertown High
School.
She worked at Kamargo Furniture Store in Watertown before
her marriage. She was also a crossing guard for the
school system. She enjoyed sewing and cooking.
She married Charles J. Carr on Aug. 23, 1940. After her
husband's retirement from the New York Air Brake Company,
the couple moved to St. Petersburg, Fla., in the early 1980s
while continuing to spend summers at their cottage at Three
Mile Bay, N.Y. Her husband predeceased her in 1993
after 50 plus years of marriage.
Surviving are her three children, Barbara Stevens, St.
Petersburg, Fla., Charles R. Carr, Watertown, and Richard
K. Carr, Lighthouse Point, Fla.; 15 grandchildren and 10
great-grandchildren.
Her sister, Helena Kuhl, step-brother, Kenneth Bullis,
and step-sister, Kartha Heart, died before her.
Memorial gifts may be made to First Presbyterian Church,
Watertown, NY or to a Hospice of your choice.
