WATERTOWN, N.Y. —
Nora G. Rivers Beach, 81, formerly of Henry Keep Apts., died
Saturday at the Samaritan Medical Center following a brief
illness. She had resided at the Samaritan Keep Home since
October 11.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Reed & Benoit
Funeral Home with Rev. Earl Reff, pastor of the Fellowship
Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Union
Cemetery, Adams Center. Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Monday
at the funeral home.
Born April 24, 1928, in the town of Greig, a
daughter of H. Melvin and L. Gertrude Crandall Rivers, she was educated in rural schools.
She worked at several restaurants, later owning and
operating Eseltine’s Diner in Black River during the
1960s. She went to work at Faichney’s Instruments (Chesebrough Ponds) in 1968, retiring in 1979.
Following her retirement, she was a volunteer at the House
of the Good Samaritan, now Samaritan Medical Center for many
years.
Marriages to Leroy Franklin Dean and Kenneth F. Beach ended
in divorce.
Nora is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Frank and
Sharon Dean, Watertown; three grandsons, Kevin Dean,
Syracuse, Joseph Dean, Dexter, and Joel Dean, Watertown; two
granddaughters, Charlotte Brandvig, Iowa; Lori Gaede,
Watertown; a foster son and his wife, William and Linda
Busler, Boonville; three brothers, Charles and Floyd Rivers,
both of Syracuse, Vernon, Penfield; many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by twin sons, Fred and Roy Dean, and a
son, Ronald Beach. Three brothers, Aldrich (Bill), Gene
and Hoe Rivers also died her.
