Viola B. Traynor

WATERTOWN, N.Y.  —  Viola B. Traynor, 68, of Patricia Drive, beloved wife of 47 years and devoted mother and grandmother, died Saturday morning at the Samaritan Medical Center following a lengthy illness. 

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Christian Life Center, State St. Hill, Route 126, with Pastor Frank Pollard, officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery.  Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home.  

Contributions may be made in her memory to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, or to one’s favorite Veteran’s charity. 

Viola was born in Deposit, N.Y., on Dec. 31, 1940, a daughter of Charles and Marion Murphy Wood.  

She married John A. Traynor III June 2, 1962, in San Pedro, Calif. 

Mrs. Traynor worked in the billing departments at Bradley Hardware and the New York Air Brake both in Watertown for many years retiring in 1992.

Viola was a member of the Christian Life Center and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. 

Besides her husband John, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Donna, Watertown; two daughters and sons-in-law, Paula and Joseph Shaughnessy, Watertown; Cheryl and Michael Brouty, Brownville; six grandchildren, three great grandchildren; a sister, Connie Martin, Florida; seven nephews and one niece.  

She was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Vincent Crowder and her sister, Irma Goldthrite.
