WATERTOWN, N.Y. —
Jared B. Maxon, 99, formerly of Adams and Clayton, died
Tuesday at Mercy Care of Northern New York where he has
resided for five years.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, at Reed &
Benoit Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery,
Adams Center. A calling hour will be noon to 1 p.m. Friday,
Oct. 30, at the funeral home.
Born Feb. 20, 1910, in Adams, a son of Clarence and Laura
Maxon, he was educated in rural school. Mr. Maxon left the
family farm at 17 years of age and joined the railroad for
10 years.
He later worked for Bagley and Sewell (Black Clawson) and
has been retired for the last 30 years.
Mr. Maxon enjoyed fishing, hunting and golf. He and
his wife spent many winters in Florida.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Dorothy, a resident of
Mercy Care; his son, Edward, Sodus; a grandson, John
Maxon, Canton; a granddaughter, Tawney Sue Wicker, Lima, N.Y.
