Margaret J. Mattingly

WATERTOWN, N.Y.    Margaret J. Mattingly, 98, of Franklin Street, and formerly of Philadelphia, died Saturday, Nov. 3, at Mercy of Northern New York where she had resided since July 17.

Born May 17, 1914, in Redwood, the daughter of Roy and Eleanor De Large Eager, she attended Philadelphia High School.

She married Marvin E. “Matt” Mattingly on May 31, 1942, in Watertown with Pastor Walter Wilmshurst officiating. Mr. Mattingly died Sept. 13,1993.

She worked for three years at the family store, Matt’s Convenience Store in Philadelphia and spent her time raising her family and volunteering.

Mrs. Mattingly was a member of the Gospel Mission Fellowship Church, Theresa, and faithfully served the Lord her entire life.

Survivors include five sons
and four daughters-in-law, John, William and Judy, James and Sandy all of Theresa, Douglas and Vicki and Morris and Nancy, all of Chaumont; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Irene Akbury, Mesa, Ariz.., Blanche LaLonde, Watertown, Stella Labiendo, Lakeland, Fla., and Bertha Atchie, Watertown.

Two brothers, Raymond and George,
and a sister, Eleanor Borden, and a daughter-in-law, Linda Mattingly, all died before her.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Theresa, with Rev. Kirk Gilchrist of the New Life Christian Church, Watertown, officiating. Burial will be at Redwood Cemetery.

A calling hour will be
2 to 3 p.m. prior to the funeral.
