— David J. Lane, 30, of Catskill, N.Y.,
and formerly of Dexter, passed away following a motor
vehicle accident on Wednesday.
Born Feb. 7, 1979, in Watertown, the son of Stephen R. and
Cheryl D. Thomas Lane, he graduated in 1997 in General Brown
High School and attended SUNY Albany.
He entered the Army on Nov. 5, 2001, and served in
Afghanistan from July 2002 until January 2003. He returned
home and served in Iraq from July 2003 until April 2004. He
served with 82nd Airborne Division, 307th Engineers, Company
C.
Mr. Lane joined the New York State Police and has served for
the past four years. He was stationed in Catskill with Troop
F.
Surviving are his parents, Stephen R. and Cheryl D. Lane,
Dexter; a brother and his wife, Stephen and Kate Lane,
Webster, N.Y.; his fiancée Kelly Martin, Catskill; grandparents, Lowell and Shelia Thomas,
Dexter; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services will be
held 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9, at Immaculate Conception Church
of Brownville with Fr. Kevin O’Brien and Bro. Gregory
Miles officiating. Burial will be in Dexter Cemetery with
military honors. Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday,
Nov. 7, and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, at the
Johnson Funeral Home. Members of the New York State Police
will be providing a funeral escort and honors.
