Katherine
T. Lampson, 91, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, at Country Manor
Nursing Facility, Carthage, N.Y. where she has resided since
March 2011.
Born January 19, 1921, in New York City, the daughter of
Adam Tinger and Katherine Waldman Tinger, she grew up in the
Yorkville area of Manhattan and graduated from Manhattan
High School and the Grace Institute and Business College in
NYC.
In 1940 she married Erwin Lampson and moved to Brownville
where she lived for over 70 years.
Her faith was very important to her and she was a member of
Immaculate Conception Church in Brownville for 71 years.
Mrs. Lampson was a past member of the Altar Rosary Society
and the Busy BeeGees Senior Club in Brownville.
She was employed as Credit Manager for W.T.Grant Co. from
1958 to 1962. In 1962 she accepted a Federal position in the
Finance Dept. at Ft. Drum, where she worked for 21 years
until retiring in 1983. After retiring she was a member of
the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Mrs. Lampson was a very independent woman who remained
active in exercise classes, water aerobics, and outside
activities until her late 80’s. She loved working in her
flower beds and vegetable garden each year. Most important
to her was her family, being involved in their lives and
spending time with them.
She was predeceased by her husband, Erwin, in 1976 and her
grad-daughter Lisa Michelle Church in 2001. Her parents and
five siblings: Brothers John, Jacob, Frank, Adam and her
sister Lillian also died before her.
Katherine will be missed by her children Carol (Jeff)
Whelan, and Mark (Jeanne) Lampson. Grand-children Stephen
(Tara) Church, Elisha (Beth) Lampson, Rebecca (Kelly) Donley
and great grandchildren Katherine and Angela Church.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at
Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter. Burial will be in the spring
in Brownville Cemetery. Calling hours will be 1 to 2 p.m.
Friday prior to the service.
