Barbara J. Narrow

CALCIUM, N.Y.    Barbara J. Narrow, 75, of Calcium, died Monday, Dec. 19, 2016, at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown, NY, after a brief illness.

She was born Oct. 14, 1941, in Constableville, the daughter of the late Wendaline W. and Catherine M. (Bernholz) Duppert. Her parents died when she was very young and she was raised by her aunt, Lorena Bernholz. She was a graduate of Constableville High School.

Barbara was retired from Sherwood Medical. After her retirement, she continued cleaning homes for close friends right up to her death. 

She married Eddie G. Narrow on Oct. 21, 1961, at St. Mary's Church Constableville with Rev. Thomas J. Robillard officiating. Mr. Narrow died June 21, 1997.

She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, where she was a greeter at the 4:30 p.m. Mass. She was a member of the Northpole Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and a board member of Sanford Corners Cemetery. 

She enjoyed doing lawn work, embroidery, and was a Dale Jr. NASCAR fan. 

More than anything else, Barbara enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving are her three children and their spouses, James E. and Ann Narrow of Calcium, Betty A. and Paul Fitzgerald of Watertown, and Jeffrey and Trina Narrow of Pamelia; three grandchildren, Matthew, Tyler, and Tristen; two sisters, Eva and Donald Shambo of Constableville and Ann Colleen of Danville, IL; a brother, James and Maureen Duppert of Constableville; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown. The funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Christopher J. Looby presiding. Burial will be in the spring in Sanford Corners Cemetery.
