— Frederick C. Burnup, 87, of Route 283, Watertown,
passed away Monday, Jan. 2, at the Samaritan Medical Center.
The memorial service will be 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6, at Reed
& Benoit Funeral Home. Spring
burial will be in the Sanford Corners Cemetery, Calcium.
Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Friday before the
service at the funeral home.
He is survived by three daughters, Peggy Burnup and Candy
Briggs, both of Watertown and Jill Leach, Calcium; two
grandchildren, Nicole Washer and Wayne Briggs; 4 great
grandchildren Marriah, Vincent, Nico and Gino; several
nieces and nephews.
Three brothers, Harold, Howard and Roger, and a
sister, Korleen Flitcroft, predeceased him.
Fred was born at the family homestead on Route 283 on June
2, 1929, a son to Horace and Mabel Burrows Burnup.
Fred owned and operated the family dairy farm on Route 283
for many years, teaching his work ethic to his grandchildren
for several years. He retired from dairy farming in the
early 1990s but continued to raise heifers and beef cattle
as well as harvest hay for several years after.
He married Beatrice McAvoy on June 13, 1953.
Mrs. Burnup died Nov. 1, 2011.
Mr. Burnup had previously served on the Town of Pamelia
