— Stanley Richard “Dick” Morrison, 88, of
McClelland Street, Watertown, passed away Saturday, Jan. 7,
at the Samaritan Medical Center.
He had been a resident of the Samaritan Summit
Village since March of 2016.
The funeral will be 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, at Reed
& Benoit Funeral Home with Rev. Patty Farr officiating.
Calling hours are Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. prior to
the funeral. Graveside
services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, in Brookside
Cemetery, town of Watertown.
He is survived by his children, Thomas Morrison, Watertown;
Philip and Tina Morrison, Watertown; Christy Morrison,
Mountain View, CA; Martin and Lynne Morrison, Watertown;
Barbara (Morrison) and William Stevenson, Cicero; Diane
(Morrison) and Robert Kayajian, Mission Viejo, CA; Karen
(Morrison) and James Black, Victor, NY; 10 grandchildren and
4 great grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Dell Ewing,
Vienna, VA and Chuck Ames, Watertown; nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by granddaughter Emily, a great
granddaughter Kendal and two brothers, Donald and Robert.
Dick was born in Watertown August 12, 1928, a son to Roy and
Dorothy Mapp Morrison. As
a youth, he played the mellophone in the Home Band of the
Jefferson County Children’s Home. He graduated from
Watertown High School in 1947.
Following his education, he worked for Chapins Choice
Chicken, Chapins Wholesale Flowers, and Ames Brothers Body
Shop. Dick went
to work for Niagara Mohawk where he was employed for over 30
years, retiring as garage foreman.
One of his favorite positions while employed at
Niagara Mohawk was serving as executive driver to the
Machold family. He was
an avid coin collector and card enthusiast who enjoyed
crossword puzzles and spending time with his family.
Dick was a member of the Emmanuel Congregational Church and
the IBEW Local 97. He
enjoyed attending Syracuse University football games with
his wife, Marilyn.
He married Marilyn June Ames on Feb. 4, 1950, at the
Emmanuel Congregational Church.
Mrs. Morrison, a retired teacher’s assistant in the
Watertown School District, died July 17, 2014.
