Helena M. Youngs

GOUVERNEUR, NY    Helena M. Youngs, 37, of Grove Street, Gouverneur, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 10, at Claxton Hepburn Hospital in Ogdensburg.

She was admitted to St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse after being stricken ill at work at Jefferson Community College the first week of December 2016.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at Reed & Benoit Funeral Home, 632 State St., Watertown, with Pastor Mark Strader officiating. Burial will be in the Brownville Cemetery.  Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, at the funeral home.

Born March 30, 1979, in Watertown, a daughter to Charles Morin and Sharon Hopseker, she was educated at Gouverneur Central School.  

She has been employed for 14 years in the facilities department at Jefferson Community College, and was employed at the time of her passing.

Helena enjoyed celebrating the holidays especially Christmas. 

She loved spending time with her nieces and nephews who she considered her children.

She is survived by her husband, David, Gouverneur; a step-daughter, Sue Anne Youngs and grandson, Isaiah McCoy, both of Massena, both mother and step-father, Sharon and Leonard Zaffarano, Gouverneur; grandfather Warren Hopseker, Chaumont; Brothers and sisters , Kimberly Denicola and James Denicola both of North Carolina; Candy Eaddy, Texas; April Parris, Gouverneur; Terri Bornheimer, Wisconsin; Sharon Anderson, Texas and Tanna Davis, Gouverneur;  Charles Weston ,Pillar point, Mary Weston Lasage, Chaumont, Alice Kerr, Dexter, Sandra Roshia, Watertown, Terri Maali, Massachusetts ,  Ricky Greenfield, Carthage, Sherry Foley ,Florida , and Mary Evju ,Massachusetts , 3 step brothers Leonard and Jeremy Zaffarano both of Wyoming,  Kendall Ross of NYC; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. 

She was predeceased by her father, Charles Morin.
