MANNSVILLE, NY  ó  Michael J. Abbott, 58, Mannsville, lost his courageous battle with cancer surrounded at home by his loving family on Sunday, March 12, 2017.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 17, at the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville with Pastor Mark Strader officiating. Burial will follow in Woodside Cemetery, Belleville. Calling hours are 1 to 3 and 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 16, at the funeral home. 

Sept. 27, 1958, in Watertown, the son Jack and Suzann Kohl Abbott, the second oldest of six children, he graduated from Union Academy of Belleville in 1976. 

Mike married his wife Beverly Bulluck on April 18, 1999. Mike grew up and resided in Belleville, N.Y. until moving to his current home in Mannsville, N.Y. in 2003.

Mike worked in the crop and dairy industry. Mike operated the family dairy farm for many years before establishing his own crop spray business. At the time of his death, he was employed by Deer Run Dairy.

Mike enjoyed driving truck, working in the agriculture industry, and was an avid bowler.  Mike was inducted to the USBC Adams Menís Bowling Association Hall of Fame, having bowled two, 300 games. He was a Member of the Belleville and Ellisburg fire departments, also serving as a First Responder and was a member of the 200 Club.  Mike also served as a Mannsville Village of Trustee Member for many years. 

Mikeís sense of humor carried him through many of lifeís hardships. He loved playing practical jokes on family and friends always bringing a smile to those around him. He was always ready to help and support others. Mike loved going to NASCAR races and watching his favorite football team, the New Orleans Saints, and basketball games. Above all else, Mike enjoyed shooting the breeze with family, friends and he had his own special relationship with each one of his thirteen grandchildren.    

The family would like to give a special thank you to Hospice of Jefferson County, Mike and Krissy Burger and the many people who supported and contributed to the benefit.                    

He is survived by his wife, Beverly, his five children, Rachel (Chad) Abbott-Zehr, Whitney Pt., NY; Shawn (Heather) Abbott, Castorland; Joshua (Kirstin) Abbott, Belleville; Erin (Justin) Wagschal, Lowville; Jenny (Daniel) Webster, Macedon, NY; his three step-children, Betsy (Carl) Wood, Mannsville; Michael Shelmidine, Central Square; Mark (Tammy) Shelmidine, Boylston; his thirteen grandchildren, Madeline Zehr, Payton Zehr, Mason Abbott, MacKenzie Abbott, Madison Abbott, Landyn Abbott, Jason Abbott, Emily Wagschal, Adam Wagschal, Lauren Wood, Lincoln Wood, Breanna Shelmidine, Mark Shelmidine II; his mother  Suzann, Belleville; five siblings, Melinda Abbott, Adams Center; Becky (Dan) Maas,Sandy Creek; Sandy (Ed) Dupee, Swannee, GA;  Annie (Lenny Babcock) Abbott, Rome; Joseph (Janet) Abbott, Belleville; and his several nephews, nieces and cousins.

He was predeceased by his father Jack who passed in June of 2010, and his grandparents.
