Marcus W. Plumpton
On Sept. 4, 1942 he entered the US Army. He served in Luzon, New Guinea, and Southern Philippines. Marcus received the World War II Victory, American Service, Asiatic-Pacific Service and Good Conduct Medals and the Philippines Liberation Ribbon. He was honorably discharged as a Corporal on Jan. 27, 1946.
After his service to his country, he and his siblings continued the business at Plumpton Chevrolet, and he retired as part owner. He also worked as a security guard for Burns Security. He was a member of the Black River Valley Club and enjoyed reading and playing cards.
Marcus is survived by his
son, Marcus W. "Mickey" Plumpton and companion,
Kathy Shelmidine, and daughter, Marcia A. DeJourdan, all of
Watertown; three grandchildren, Brian and Scott Files and
Molly DeJourdan, two great-grandchildren and a great- great-grandchild;
and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
