LAFARGEVILLE, N.Y. —
E. Steele, 92, of County Route 13, LaFargeville, died
Saturday, March 18, at her home, where she was under the
care of her family and Hospice of Jefferson County.
As per her request, there will be no calling hours or
There will be a graveside committal service 11 a.m.
Wednesday, May 24, in Omar Cemetery.
Born May 24, 1924, in the town of Orleans, the daughter of
Zion and Carrie VanBrocklin Fitchette, she graduated from
Clayton High School in 1942.
On April 6, 1949, she married George Steele at her parents
home. Mr. Steele died in 2001.
She helped her husband with farming for years, and drove
school bus for LaFargeville School, retiring in 1986.
Beatrice enjoyed sewing and was a former member of the
LaFargeville Methodist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Carry (Sheila) of LaFargeville, and
Patrick of LaFargeville, and his children’s mother,
Bobbi-Jo, of Herman; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Six brother, Tom, James, Richard, Eugene, Gerald, and
Marquis, and six sisters, Persis Wilkie, Pearl Shoulette,
Bertha Porter, Ruby Robbins, Helen Kirkby, and Josephine
Fisk, all died before her.
