Warrant Officer Four Michael Richard Denny, 37, passed away
April 8, 2017.
Born March 2, 1980, in Smithtown, NY, he graduated from
Thousand Island High School in Cape Vincent, NY.
Michael enlisted in the Army in December 1999 as a 35Y out
of Syracuse, NY. Chief Denny attended basic training at Ft.
Leonard Wood, MO, and AIT at Red Stone Arsenal, AL.
His first assignment was to Headquarters and Headquarters
Company DISCOM 25ID at Schofield Barracks Hawaii where he
spent all of his time as an enlisted Soldier. In September
of 2005 Chief Denny was commissioned to the rank of Warrant
Officer 1 as a missile tech (948D0). Following graduation of
Warrant Officer Basic Course he was assigned back to
Schofield Barracks Hawaii to the 725th
Maintenance Support Battalion where he would begin a
successful career as an officer in the United States Army. Chief
Denny was stationed at Fort Drum from 2010-2014 and while
stationed there he earned a BA in business from Canton ATC.
Chief Denny has had four deployments, two in Afghanistan and
two in Iraq and in November of 2016 Chief Denny was promoted
to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer Four where he was then
selected to work on the CASCOM Commanderís staff as an
advisor in his specialty.
Chief Denny is survived by his son, Robert, daughter Gracie,
their mother Katherine, his mother Bethany and his two
sisters, Susan and Shana.
His father, Douglas Denny, died in 2001.
A memorial service was held April 21, 2017, at Fort
Burial in the Arlington Cemetery will be held 9 a.m. Sept.
A celebration of his life will be held at a time and place
to be announced at the convenience of the family in July.
