Ronald J. Mowers, 67, Wellesley Island

WELLESLEY ISLAND, NY – Ronald J. Mowers, 67, of Sunset Drive, passed away Thursday afternoon, Sept. 27, at SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, after a courageous battle with a glioblastoma multiforme.

Born Aug. 19, 1951, in Rochester, NY, a son of Ronald F. and Margaret Brizendine Mowers. He graduated from Gates-Chili High School and attended Corning University.

Ron was plant manager for Pilot Industries Metal Production Division, in Manchester, MI, retiring in 1996.

His first marriage to C.J. Farley ended and he was remarried Anne Wilcox Dower on November 5, 1998 in Boca Raton, FL.

Ron had a lifelong passion for the St. Lawrence River and one of his greatest pleasures, was taking his grandchildren fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Anne; a daughter Jennifer Mowers, Cape Elizabeth, ME; three stepsons, Scott Farley, Cadillac, MI, Jonathan(Nikki) Dower, Skaneateles, NY, and Matthew(Siobhan) Dower, Chicago, IL; three step daughters, Anne Marie(John) Logan, Skaneateles, NY, Catherine (Jonathan) Sinclair, Saratoga, NY, and Elizabeth(Corey) Farnsworth, Salida, CO; a brother, Ted (Susan) Mowers, Wellesley Island, NY; two sisters, Sandy(John) Braun, Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Susan(Roy) Leader, Rochester, NY; and 17 grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, at the Costello Funeral Home, Alexandria Bay. A funeral Mass will be said 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1, at St. Cyril’s Church. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Wellesley Island.
