State to auction land along I-81 and Route 12F in town of Watertown

WATERTOWN, NY — The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) will auction one parcel of land as part of the State’s Surplus Property Program aimed at returning properties no longer needed to the hands of local citizens who can potentially develop the land to the betterment of the local economy. The parcel is in the Town of Watertown, Jefferson County.

The parcel was acquired by the state for highway improvements. What remains is no longer needed for transportation purposes and will be available for purchase by public voice auction.

The public voice auction will be held Tuesday, June 19, 2018 in the first-floor conference room of the Dulles State Office Building, 317 Washington Street, Watertown, New York 13601. The auction is open to the public with registration beginning at 10 a.m. and the auction to begin at 11 a.m.

The auction parcel, Conveyance Map 918-C, Parcel 1146, Portion of Map 734 Parcel 863, is located adjacent to NYS Route 12F (Coffeen Street) and Interstate 81 (south bound exit ramp) in the Town of Watertown, Jefferson County. The parcel is vacant, irregular in shape and consists of approximately 4.1 acres. Access to the parcel will remain restricted adjacent to both NYS Route 12F (Coffeen Street) and Interstate 81. Private property abuts the parcel to the north and west. It will, therefore, be the bidder’s responsibility to obtain legal access to the parcel. The State does not guarantee access. \

It is recommended that prospective bidders research local municipal zoning requirements before placing bids.

Prospective bidders may obtain more information about the auction and land for sale, including the upset (starting bid) price and complete auction rules, by contacting Maria Phillips (315) 785-2527 or Robin Disbro (315) 785-6444 at NYSDOT, or online at www.dot.ny.gov/r7surplus.
