Thomas A. Rivers, Sr., 77, Carthage

CARTHAGE, NY — Thomas A. Rivers, Sr., 77, of Texas Road, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, at home.

Born Dec. 29, 1940, in the town of Champion, the son of Charles and Wilma Covey Rivers, he attended local schools.

Mr. Rivers was employed with Braman Manufacturing and ABC McCleary and Company, now Signs and Designs, both in Carthage, NY.

He married Colleen Washburn on June 27, 1981, in Carthage, NY.

Mr. Rivers was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks #1762 in Carthage.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing, taking many hunting trips to Colorado, Wyoming and Canada to hunt elk, moose, deer and bear and was a member of the Cold Springs Hunting Club in South Colton.

Survivors including his wife, Colleen; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Thomas, Jr., Rochester, John and Julie, Harrisville and Lee, Natural Bridge; a daughter and son-in-law, Janie and Mike Schatz, Carthage; two stepsons and their wives, Richard and Marla Clement, Natural Bridge and Rodney and Diana Clement, Deer River; two brothers, Mike, Allen and his wife, Penny, all of Carthage; five sisters and three brothers-in-law, Evelyn Rivers, Cicero, Joanne and Bob Sanders, Christine and Bruce Montgomery and Janet Rivers, all of Carthage and Janice and Tom, OK; a sister-in-law, Donna Rivers.

Besides his parents, two sisters, Nancy Salozzo and Mary Crabbe, two brothers, Gary and Charles Rivers died before him.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service at a later date.
