SACKETS HARBOR, NY — The memorial service for Thomas E. Busler, Sr. will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Sackets Harbor, with Father Michael Gaffney officiating. A luncheon in the Parish Center will follow the Mass, courtesy of the Altar and Rosary Society.

Burial with military honors will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Sackets Harbor, in the spring at a date to be determined.

Mr. Busler, 77, of Sackets Harbor, passed away suddenly on Feb. 16, 2019, hours after celebrating his oldest daughter’s birthday.

Born Aug. 26, 1941, in Watertown, a son to Edward T. and Charlotte (Jones) Busler, he graduated from Sackets High School in 1959 and served with the US Army from April 1965 until his honorable discharge in November 1969.

With Justice of the Peace Leon Marvin officiating, Tom married Irene Bronowicz on May 26, 1970, in Sackets Harbor, whom he met while working at the same furniture manufacturing plant in Wisconsin.

Tom was employed by Fishercast, Inc. of Watertown as a draftsman/designer from 1971 until his retirement in 2003.

He enjoyed puzzles, working outdoors, renovating the house, working with his hands, fixing everything from alarm clocks to cars, finding deals, and helping out his family and neighbors whenever needed. He may not have always been about but he was always there when it counted most.

Tom also enjoyed checking Newzjunky and Facebook and would have been thrilled to be the first to tell his family his obituary made the headlines. He was always a constant source for news and weather updates, just one of many of his qualities that will be missed.

He is survived by his wife, Irene; two sons, Thomas Jr. (Denine), St. Petersburg, Fla., and Grant (Leanne), Webster; two daughters, April, and Darsi (Mike) Reardon, all of Sackets Harbor; four grandchildren: Jonathan, Delaney, McClayne, and Trager; four sisters: Sandra (James) Beaumont, Dexter, Carolyn (Lloyd) Royer, Williamsburg, Penn., Kathy Corbett, Watertown, and Deborah Jones, Dexter; and several nieces and nephews.

A sister, Patricia, passed away in infancy.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations in his name to the Sackets Harbor Ambulance Fund, PO Box 171, Sackets Harbor, NY 13685.

The family would like to thank the 911 dispatcher, Joe and Rachel Meirose, the Sackets Harbor ambulance squad and EMTs, Guilfoyle Ambulance Service, Jefferson County Sheriffs, and the doctors and nurses at Samaritan who attended him. They are forever grateful for your efforts.
