Two men cited following traffic stop in West Leyden, deputies say

LOWVILLE, NY — On July 13, 2018, at about 8:31 p.m., the Lewis County sheriff’s office conducted a traffic stop on Osceola Road in the hamlet of West Leyden on a pickup truck operated by Leonard S. Spadter, 38, of 3174 Pine Ridge Rd., Canastota, after he was observed speeding on Route 26 in a 30-mph zone.

“Through investigation, it was determined that Spadter and his passenger, Christopher G. Bailey, 38, of 163 Marion Manor, Oneida, were in possession of open containers of alcohol inside of the motor vehicle and each in possession of separate quantities of marijuana. Spadter was also determined to be towing an uninspected trailer.”

Spadter was issued appearance tickets for uninspected trailer, open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, speed in zone and unlawful possession of marijuana returnable to the Lewis Town Court at a later date.

Bailey was issued appearance tickets for open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and unlawful possession of marijuana returnable to the Lewis Town Court at a later date.
