SACKETS HARBOR, NY — The partially decomposed human remains that were discovered on Horse Island in the Village of Sackets Harbor have been identified, following a forensic examination by the medical examiner’s office.
Family members in New Jersey have been notified. The cause of death has been ruled a suicide and there are no criminal aspects to this investigation.
The sheriff’s office was assisted in the investigation by the New York State Park Police, Sackets Harbor Police Department and the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office.
