Wayne J. Doctore, 73, Dexter

DEXTER, NY — Wayne J. Doctore, 73, Dexter, passed away suddenly Friday, Oct. 19, at his home.

Born April 14, 1945, in Watertown, the son of Hilary and Bertha Stumpf Doctore, he graduated from Immaculate Heart Academy in Watertown and later took some college courses.

Wayne was married to Dawn Briot and that marriage ended in divorce. He later married Karen Misercola and that also ended in divorce.

He worked at Carrier Corporation in Syracuse for several years and later owned and operated Doctore Landscaping and Greenhouse in Dexter until he retired. He also owned and operated the Dexter Fish Co. where he cleaned fish for salmon fisherman for several years.

Wayne was very active throughout his life. He was a teacher of Waterfowl Identification held a JCC, was very active in the Northern Tier Trap League where he shot for Brownville Fish and Game Club, Lyme Game Club, and Toad Harbor Club. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and Lyme Garden Club. He was very active in hunting, fishing, guiding for fishing.

He was also an accomplished needlepoint and crochet often making tablecloths etc as gifts for special people.

Wayne is survived by his two sisters, Marsha and Tomm Maxon, Dexter, and Lorna and Edmund Haege, Hopewell Junction, NY; his companion, Christine Cowan, Dexter; his step-son, Don and Amanda Eastham, Dexter; grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents and a brother Hilary Jr. in 1980.

Funeral service will be held 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter with Fr. Michael Gaffney officiating. Calling hours will be held 5 to 8 p.m. prior to the funeral.
