William J. Eddy, 79, Deferiet

DEFERIET, NY —  William James Eddy, 79, of 70 Riverside Drive, died Saturday, June 16, 2018, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse.

Born Dec. 31, 1938, in Ogdensburg, the son of the late Carl and Bernice (Wing) Eddy, he served in the Marine Corps from May 1960 to May 1964.

He married Annmarie Stanford on Feb. 16, 1962, at St. Rita’s Church in Deferiet. Bill worked for the former St. Regis Paper Company and retired from Champion International after many years of service.

He was a member of the BPOE Lodge # 1762 of Carthage, the Deferiet Volunteer Fire Dept. and the Marine Corps League of Watertown. He loved hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife: Annmarie of Deferiet, one daughter: Mrs. Rick (Roxann) Paddock of Calcium and two sons: Carl Eddy of Cooperstown and William and (Louie) Eddy II of Texas, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; a sister, Carol Foster, Herrings; a brother, Richard Eddy, Newton Falls; and nieces and nephews.

Private services with military honors will be held at Black River Cemetery with the Rev. Robert L. Decker officiating.

Arrangements are with the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home in Carthage.
