20-year-old Brooklyn man accused of robbing Canton convenience store with knife, police say

CANTON, NY — On Thursday, Dec. 16, at approximately 1:23 a.m., the Canton Village Police Department responded to the SUNOCO convenience store, located at 58 Main Street in the village, for a reported male subject attempting to rob the store with a knife.

The suspect reportedly displayed a hunting knife to the cashier and demanded the money from the cash register. The suspect then fled the store on foot with the cash.

The suspect was quickly located on Riverside Drive at the State Street intersection, where he was arrested with the assistance of the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department and the New York State Police. The cash and the hunting knife were
recovered.

Arrested was Tyson Bombard, age 20, of 117 East 95th Street, Brooklyn, NY. (Mr. Bombard is believed to have been living locally for some time- a fact that he would not confirm).

Bombard was arraigned in Canton Town Court before Judge Morgan, where he was charged with Robbery in the 1st Degree, and held in the SLC Jail on $10,000 cash/ $40,000 bond. Additional charges are pending.

Bombard is scheduled to reappear in court on Feb. 23, 2022.
