2nd annual North Country Comic Convention to be held at Watertown Municipal Arena

News release

WATERTOWN, NY —  Next summer, the streets of Watertown are likely to see scores of superheroes, sci-fi characters, and figures out of fairy tales. The city’s regional comic con, renamed The North Country Comic Convention (Nococon for short) has announced plans to hold the second annual gathering of gamers, cosplayers, and fans of all things fantastical June 11 & 12, at the Watertown Municipal Arena.

“The Arena is a great venue for a summer comic con,” organizer James McKay said. “It’s got the space we need to put on a really outstanding show.”

The 2021 convention brought celebrities and fans alike from all across the US and Canada to town, from as far as Florida and California, and 2022 promises to be even bigger. “We’ve already got talent booked from as close as Upstate to as far as Washington State coming in, and we’re still adding more guests,” McKay said.

Additionally, Nococon organizers plan to feature more crafters, more artists, more live gaming, and more interactive entertainment. New this year, there will be art show competitions for both illustrators and photographers, alongside the traditional cosplay contests for both kids and adults.

“We intend to give people so much to do that even families that come both days won’t be able to see it all,” McKay said.

The show will open at 10am both days and close at 6, with an exclusive After Party for guests, VIPs, and a small group of attendees on Saturday night. Tickets officially go on sale in March, but there are numerous pre-sale options available from now until then.
