Watertown Police Dept. NOTICE

WATERTOWN, NY —  The Watertown Police Department released the following statement on June 2:

“On 05/19/2021, members of our uniformed patrol division responded to a complaint that a white male was going door to door claiming to be from Jefferson Community College collecting unused prescription drugs for disposal. Based upon our investigation it was determined that there was no such program. We would like members of our community to be aware that it is illegal to give your prescription medication to other people. We would also like to inform members of our community that if they have prescription drugs to be disposed of, they can be taken to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at 751 Waterman Drive in Watertown, NY. The drop-offs cannot contain needles, creams, epi-pens, or liquid medications. The medications can be dropped off between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. The staff at the lobby window will provide instructions to anyone dropping off medications for disposal. There will also be a prescription medication collection drive at the Jefferson County Highway Department located at 21897 County Road 190 in Watertown, NY from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on 06/05/2021.”
