Elizabeth J. “Betty” Foisy, 83, Clayton

CLAYTON, NY — Elizabeth J. “Betty” Foisy, 83, of Clayton, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018, at Samaritan Summit Village, Watertown.

Calling hours will be held 1 to 4 p .m. Sunday, Dec. 2, at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Clayton. The funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, at St. Mary’s Church with Rev. Arthur J. LaBaff, pastor, presiding. The burial will take place 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, in St. Augustine’s Cemetery, N. Bangor.

Betty was born in E. Syracuse on June 2, 1935, daughter of Rudolph and Helen Moyer Benack.

On April 24, 1954 she married Leo Raimondo at St. Matthew’s Church, E. Syracuse and he passed on May 2, 1967. She then married Joseph Rene Foisy on August 17, 1968 in Fayetteville and he passed on Oct. 19, 1998.

She was a dedicated housewife and mother.

Betty was a current communicant of St. Mary’s Church and volunteered for the Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired, Watertown. She also belonged to Altar and Rosary Societies and was a church school teacher at her former churches. She enjoyed her church and especially her Tuesday afternoon prayer group. Betty also enjoyed baking, cooking, knitting, and traveling to visit family.

Betty is survived by her 11 children, Paul Foisy, Dade City, FL, Mary and Scott Sager, Bridgeport, Jill and Larry Partridge, Redwood, Patricia and Brian Kirkby, LaFargeville, Kenneth Raimondo, IL, Matthew and Deborah Foisy, LaFargeville, Anita and William Casey, N. Bangor, Eric Foisy, CO, Beth and Darrell Trombley, N. Bangor, Yvette and Raymond Byrnes, Clayton, and Joseph and Jessica Foisy, Jr., Danville, VA; 30 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; sister, Helen Butler, Kirkville; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Her six brothers predeceased her, Donald Benack, Richard Benack, Charles Cole, Howard Benack, Gus Herlan, and Rudolph Benack, Jr. who died in infancy.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty’s name may be made to St. Mary’s Church, 521 James St., Clayton, NY 13624.
