Adams Center woman swallows tongue stud after being arrested for impaired driving, police say

WATERTOWN, NYKathleen E. Babcock, 30, of 12985 US Route 11, Adams Center, was charged by Watertown police at 4:24 a.m. Saturday, June 15, in the 1000 block of Arsenal Street with first-degree operation of a motor vehicle while ability impaired by drugs and unsafe lane change.

Ms. Babcock was transported to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building for processing where she swallowed her tongue stud, police said. She was taken to Samaritan Medical Center by Guilfoyle Ambulance for treatment and provided a blood sample, police said.

She is summoned to appear June 26 in City Court.
