WATERTOWN, NY — Allen E. “Punky” Fox, Jr., 72, died suddenly Sunday morning, Nov. 25, at his home.
The funeral will be 1 pm Friday, Nov. 30, at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Sackets Harbor Military Cemetery. Calling hours will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Born May 6, 1946, in Watertown, a son to Allen “Cracker” and Grace Sterlacci Fox, he graduated from Watertown High School in 1964 where he lettered in football and baseball. Allen attended Jefferson Community College.
Allen served with the US Marines from 1969 to 1970. He was wounded in combat in Quang Nam Province and received a Purple Heart for those wounds. Following his honorable discharge and nine months of rehabilitation, Allen went to work for the US Post Office in Watertown until his retirement.
He was a member of the Watertown Elks and a life member of the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Karen; two daughters, Terri Fox, Rochester and Tabitha Fox, Colden, NY; a son, Timothy Fox, Colden, NY; a step daughter, Marilyn St. Laurent; three grandchildren; his brothers, Kevin, Brownville and Robert, Watertown; two sisters, Karen (Tim) Combs, Henderson and Deb Fox, Watertown; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Gracie and “Cracker” and his second wife, Rebecca Felts.
