Allen R. Kempney, 78, formerly of Carthage

CARTHAGE, NY — Allen Raymond Kempney was born in the village of Carthage, NY, on the thirteenth day of March 1943 to Leonard H. Kempney and Bernice Katheryn (George) Kempney Zeller.

He grew up and went to school in the Carthage area. As a young man he farmed with his uncle Lyle Timmerman near LaFargeville and eventually worked in the area paper mills.

In 1983 he met his companion for life, Georgia Huffman. Together they became R.V. enthusiasts and traveled the entire country summers, wintering in the Rio Grande Valley of Deep South Texas. Eventually they decided to hang up the keys and settled near Summerdale, Alabama.

Allen passed from this life, as we know it, on Aug. 13, 2021, in their home.

Allen is survived by his companion Georgia; his step children, Gary Allen (Cynette) Cheal, Roanoke, VA, Shirley (Richard Cordell) Cheal Smith, Pulaski, NY, Timothy (Bobbie) Cheal, Natural Bridge NY, and Edward (Denise) Cheal, Copenhagen, NY; sisters, Ruth Kempney Bickom, Williamson, NY; Betty Zeller Endres, Watertown, NY, and Roseanne Kempney Riff, Clayton, NY; grandchildren, Jason Ames, Josh Ames, Shawn Fuller, Heather Fuller Allen, Brandon Cheal, Tiffany Cheal Schirmer, Edward Cheal Jr., Rona Cheal Burton, Albie Cheal, Scott Cheal, Dustin Cheal, Isabella Cheal, Izaiah Cheal, Joseph Kuhn, and Stephen Ball; 23 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by brothers Clinton J. George; Leonard Kempney, Jr., Nelson J. Kempney, Bernard Dean Kempney. Bernard Lee Kempney, Gerald Kempney and sisters, Katherine Kempney Cassoni, Shirley Ann Zeller Shattuck, and Joyce Zeller Shumaker, and a step daughter Ann Huffman Ball.

Per Allen’s request there will be no services. Burial will be at a later date at
Hillside Cemetery Natural Bridge, NY.
