American Red Cross aids seven after Watertown Fire

WATERTOWN, NY —  Volunteers from the North Country Chapter of the American Red Cross provided immediate emergency aid to seven people after a fire early Sunday morning on Orchard Street in Watertown, Jefferson County.

Some of those residents were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The Red Cross provided financial assistance for necessities such as shelter, food and clothing to two families, including five adults and two children, ages 5 and 11. Volunteers also offered health services, emotional support, blankets and comfort kits containing personal care items, as well as stuffed animals for the children. In the coming days, Red Cross staff and volunteers will remain available to help those affected by the fire as they navigate the road to recovery.
