WATERTOWN, NY —Â Casey Kasem will return to the first station in Watertown to air American Top 40 beginning November 8th .
Nearly 40 years ago, American Top 40 debuted in Watertown on AM 1240 WATN.
During the holiday season, it can be heard once again on WATN Sunday nights beginning at 5 PM.
Magic 103.1 which normally broadcast the show will be playing Christmas editions of the countdown beginning November 6th . The regular weekly countdown featuring the top 40 hits of the week will be moved to its sister station WATN.
Each week there will be 2 countdowns featured. At 5 PM the countdown will be a classic episode from the 70s. At 8 PM, a classic episode from the 80s will air.
American Top 40 originally aired on WATN beginning in January of 1981 and continued through 1982.
The 2 years featured on November 8th will be 1974 (5 PM) and 1986 (8 PM).
The classic editions of American Top 40 will air during the time slot for Sunday Night Oldies on AM 1240.
