Ameritas awards grant to Samaritan’s Walker Center for Cancer Care

LINCOLN, NEBRASKA – Ameritas today announced a $20,000 grant to Samaritan Medical Center’s Walker Center for Cancer Care in Watertown, New York.

The grant is part of a prestigious award Ameritas gives each year to one of the company’s independent financial representatives, someone who has achieved great professional success while maintaining a high level of commitment to community service.

The Lester A. Rosen Humanitarian and Achievement Award was created in 1996 to honor Rosen’s lifetime of service to the insurance industry, to Ameritas and
to his community of Memphis, Tennessee.

Ameritas awarded this year’s grant to the center on behalf of 2019 Rosen Award recipient and Watertown resident Kim Allen, LUTCF, managing partner of United Professional Advisors, LLC and co-founder of United Wealth Advisors Group, LLC.

Allen dedicated his award to the memory of his mother, Linda Allen, who did not have the option of a local cancer treatment center during her own battle with cancer. The grant honors the center’s commitment to expanding care to the Watertown community.

“Receiving the top humanitarian award from Ameritas is personally meaningful on many levels,” said recipient Kim Allen. “Lester Rosen was among the greatest, most giving leaders I’ve known. Being placed in his company — and all others who have received this award — is among my greatest honors. Dedicating the Rosen Award grant to a treatment room at the Walker Center for Cancer Care in my Mom’s honor is one of the most precious things I will do in my life.”

For over 30 years, Samaritan Medical Center has provided exceptional cancer care in northern New York. That legacy forms the strong foundation of the Walker Center for Cancer Care, which opened in October 2018 and offers every aspect of cancer care and treatment under one roof. This new facility is a $16 million investment in the health of the community, changing the way cancer care is delivered in the region.
