Angelo A. Guarino, Jr., 67, formerly of Watertown

PEARL CITY, HAWAII —  Angelo A. Guarino, Jr. 67 of Pearl City Hawaii, formerly of Watertown, NY, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2022, in Hawaii where he had resided since the early 2000s.

Angelo was born Jan. 15, 1955, in Watertown, NY, the son of Angelo Sr. and Fiorella Scarchilli Guarino. He attended St. Anthony’s School and graduated from Watertown High School in 1974. He studied mechanical engineering at SUNY Canton.

Angelo worked in that field for numerous manufacturing companies in the local area before relocating for work to New England in 1990 and then, after a brief stay back in the North Country, to Hawaii in the early 2000s. He had just retired last year.

A marriage to Anna Palmeri of Bronx, NY, ended in divorce, but not before creating great pride and joy in Angelo’s life, his three sons.

Angelo married Jean Carpenter of Reading, PA, in 1989. Jean passed in 2001.

Angelo was an art enthusiast, and several of his pieces remain in his childhood home in the “Sand Flats” today. His children fondly recall many weekends detailing the family car in the driveway alongside their father. Angelo also enjoyed creating and maintaining custom freshwater and saltwater fish tanks, and he had a beautiful and unique collection throughout his lifetime. In more recent years, Angelo enjoyed golf and going for long drives around the coast of Hawaii while taking in the magnificent beach views and island cuisine.

Angelo was preceded in death by his parents, Angelo A. Guarino, Sr. and Fiorella A. Scarchilli Guarino.

He is survived by his wife of 16 years Helmi A. Guarino, Pearl City, HI; three sons, Angelo III (Dorine), Watertown, NY, Christopher, PA, and Paul, FL; two grandsons, Mariano and Luciano; a brother, Al (Becky) Brownville, NY; many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A funeral will be held at St. Anthony’s Church in Watertown, NY, at the convenience of the family when Angelo makes his final journey home. He will be laid to rest in Glenwood Cemetery, town of Watertown, with his parents.
