Annual Polar Bear Dip goes BRRR-TUAL!

ALEXANDRIA BAY, NY  – Last year, River Hospital’s 30th Annual Polar Bear Dip raised over $100,000 – and in the nick of time. Shortly after the event, COVID-19
resulted in cancellation of similar activities.

This year, the Friends of River Hospital are delighted to announce the Brrr-tual Polar Bear Dip to keep the tradition going.

With safety in mind, this year’s Polar Bear Dip will be held as a virtual event with no diving into any body of water. And, for the first time, Dippers younger than the age of 18 can participate.

This year the minimum donation goal to participate is $50.00 for Dippers age 18 and up – for those under age 18, there is no fundraising requirements to join the fun. Once registered online, Dippers can start planning their virtual dip. All are encouraged to use their imagination; from taking an ice bath in swimsuits or costumes, to water balloon fights in the snow to sprinkler runs; everything qualifies except jumping into a body of water. Participants will photograph or record video of their Dip, send to River Hospital and share their Dips and fundraising goals with friends and family during the month of February. The final event, to include participant submissions and a virtual judging party, will be held online on Saturday, February 27th .

Proceeds from this year’s event will be used to purchase an Echocardiogram for River Hospital’s newly renovated Cardiopulmonary Department.
