WATERTOWN, NY – The Arc Jefferson – St. Lawrence (www.thearcjslc.org) has announced that Tara Carr, will transition from Director of Residential and Day Habilitation to Chief Operating Officer (COO) in December. As previously announced, Lynn Pietroski will be moving from the COO role and will become Chief Executive Officer (CEO) after Howie Ganter’s retirement from CEO on January 27, 2023. The team continues to collaborate to ensure a smooth leadership transition that will encourage further growth in services for people with disabilities.
“Tara’s experience with the agency and involvement with various departments make her an ideal candidate for COO,” said Lynn Pietroski, Chief Operating Officer. “She is an incredibly hardworking team member who is responsive to staff members’ needs and always keeps the best interest of the people we support as the primary goal.”
Carr has been with the agency for 21 years and began her career as a Direct Support Professional. She then moved into a case management role for residential services in 2005 before becoming a Residential Coordinator in 2014. Two years later, she was promoted to Assistant Director of Residential Services and became the Director of Residential and Day Habilitation in 2020.
In this role, Carr provided administrative and programmatic supervision of supports provided for people in Residential, Day Habilitation, as well as the Psychological Services Unit, and Qualified Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities staff members. She had oversight of over 500 staff members supporting about 500 people with disabilities.
As Chief Operating Officer for The Arc Jefferson – St. Lawrence, Carr will be responsible for the agency’s day to day operations, oversight of senior management, and financial accountability for all programs occurring at the $76 million-dollar nonprofit.
