Vacant Arsenal Street house damaged by fire Thursday night

Location: 718 Arsenal Street

Companies Responding: Engines 1, 2, 3 Truck 1

Owner: Alan Russo, Punta Gorda, Florida

Situation Found: First arriving companies found heavy smoking pushing from a 1 story vacant single family dwelling. Companies conducted a search for any victims in zero visibility smoke conditions which none were found. Simultaneously, companies advanced attack hose lines into the building and confined the fire to the rear portion of the structure. Ventilation was hampered due to boarded up windows and doors. Fire damage was limited to the rear section of the building with smoke and heat damage throughout.

Cause: Under investigation at the time of this report

Remarks: Watertown Fire Department was assisted by Fort Drum Fire Department which provided a Rapid Intervention Team, Watertown Police Department, Guilfoyle Ambulance and City Codes Department. No injuries were reported. The building was condemned by City Codes.
