Barbara Nixon Kimball, 58, Watertown

WATERTOWN, NY — Barbara Nixon Kimball, 58, Watertown, NY, passed away Sunday, Feb. 10, 2019, surrounded by her loving family, at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester.

Barbara was born in Bethesda, MD, on Dec. 13, 1960, a daughter of the late James W. and Matsuko Shiina Nixon. As a young child, Barbara’s family moved to Calais, Maine, where she graduated from Calais High School.

She then went on to earn her business degree at Washington County Vocational School, which is also where she met her beloved husband of 38 years, John D. Kimball. They married on June 14, 1980 and settled in Watertown when John was stationed at Fort Drum in 1997. Barbara was very proud of the fact that all three of her children served our country through the military.

One of her greatest enjoyments was being “Grammie” to her two little loves, her grandsons Connor and Jackson. She also enjoyed shopping and traveling, which included Europe, Asia, and Disney.

Along with her husband, John, she is survived by her father- and mother-in-law, Charles W. and Mabel J. Kimball, Westmoreland; her three children, Brian D. Kimball, Watertown, Jennifer L. Kimball, Watertown, and Jason P. Kimball and wife, Brittany, of Hampton, VA; two grandsons, Connor and Jackson, of Hampton, VA; five siblings, Kathy A. Barnard and husband, Maurice, Calais, ME; James W. Nixon and wife, Teresa, Newport News, VA; John T. Nixon and wife, Terri, Rotunda, FL; Laura M. Donovan and husband, Troy, Calais, ME; and William E. Nixon, Newport News, VA; brother-in-law’s Dan Kimball; James and Tammy Kimball; David Kimball; sister-in-law Kathy and husband Randy Strong; two aunts, an uncle, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was also predeceased by brother-in-law, Dan Kimball.

Calling hours will be held 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, June 14, at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown. There will be no funeral service.
